DocsGetting started

Your first hour

What to do after you sign up, in order, and what you will have at the end of it.

Finish setting up

Your workspace opens on a short checklist. It takes a couple of minutes, and everything Narrative writes later uses what you enter here.

  1. Add your name and what your business is called. A working name is fine - you can change it any time.
  2. Pick your accent color, or skip it. It only affects how your published pages and documents look.
  3. Upload a logo if you have one. Skip it if you do not; nothing is blocked by this.

The checklist lives on your Overview screen. You can leave it half-finished and come back - it does not gate the Academy.

Start Stop 1: Validate your idea

This is a pressure test, not a form. You answer questions about the problem you solve and who has it, and the coach pushes back on anything vague.

It ends with your Validation Brief: an honest verdict on whether the idea holds up, and what to sharpen if it does not.

  1. Open Validate your idea in the sidebar, under Your Launch Plan.
  2. Click Start pressure-testing, then work through Problem & Demand.
  3. Answer in your own words. One specific sentence beats three general ones.
  4. Click Continue after each question. Your progress saves as you go.

Use the coach on at least one answer

Under any answer you write, a Pressure-test this answer button appears. Use it once early, even if your answer feels fine - it is the fastest way to see what Narrative is actually for.

The coach will ask who your answer is explicitly not for. If you can't name them, the answer is still too broad, and every asset built from it will be too.

What you will have

By the end of an hour, most people have a validated idea, a clear description of who they serve, and the beginnings of an offer. That is further than months of thinking about it usually gets.

  • A Validation Brief, or a clear list of what to sharpen
  • The problem and audience written in language a buyer would recognize
  • A workspace that knows enough about you to draft the next asset

What not to do first

  • Do not buy a domain. Narrative publishes your pages on a link for you.
  • Do not design a logo. It changes nothing about whether the offer sells.
  • Do not skip to the homepage step. It is written from your positioning, so building it first means rebuilding it.

Narrative is a tool for building and running a business — not a guarantee of income, sales, or results. What you earn depends on your own effort, market, and many factors outside our control. Testimonials and figures reflect individual experiences and are not typical or promised.
